Founded in 2021, by Julien Rouzé, Jérémie Veg and Gautier Levert, Sopht is a SaaS platform designed to help large enterprises measure, manage, and reduce the environmental impact of their IT systems. From sprawling cloud usage to fleets of employee devices, Sopht maps an organization’s digital carbon footprint – offering actionable insights and real-time dashboards to reduce emissions across endpoints, infrastructure, and usage patterns.
Unlike general ESG tools, Sopht focuses specifically on IT decarbonization. Its software integrates directly with corporate systems (Microsoft, Google Workspace, AWS, Azure, internal APIs) to track both embodied emissions (from manufacturing and procurement) and usage-based emissions (from electricity, cloud, network).
The platform goes beyond diagnostics: Sopht provides levers for optimization, such as adjusting hardware lifecycles, cloud settings, or software behaviour – all aligned with internal CSR targets and regulatory requirements.
WHY IT MATTERS
Corporate IT has a hidden carbon footprint. Laptops, phones, servers, and cloud storage are responsible for growing emissions: up to 2% of total corporate Scope 2 emissions in some sectors. As companies pledge to hit Net Zero, many realize that IT systems are both a blind spot and a fast win.
Sopht arrives as regulatory and reputational pressure mounts. European directives now require detailed Scope 3 tracking, and employees, customers, and investors increasingly demand proof of green action, not just pledges.
Sopht turns IT into a strategic lever for decarbonization – and for broader sustainability reporting.
THE INVESTMENT
Sopht has closed a €3.3 million seed round led by Berlin-based VC Ring Capital, alongside investors Wind, 50 Partners Impact and the French Tech Seed fund (managed by Bpifrance under the France 2030 plan).
Additional participation came from the French business angel community, including names like Renaud Visage (co-founder, Eventbrite) and early execs from Back Market, Swile, and Doctolib.
The round will help Sopht scale up its tech and sales team, expand its international client base, and develop deeper integration modules for enterprise systems.
NEXT STEPS
Sopht is already working with major French corporates across banking, energy, and consulting. The startup plans to expand into new European markets in 2025 and launch automated compliance tools to support CSRD and other upcoming reporting standards. Sopht’s vision: to make IT not just a cost center, but a climate performance driver, one dashboard at a time.
