ENTROVIEW RAISES €1.5M TO REVOLUTIONIZE BATTERY DIAGNOSTICS

Founded in 2021 by Gaetan Depaepe and Sohaib El Outmani, Entroview is pioneering a real-time battery diagnostics solution based on entropy tracking – a breakthrough that provides deep visibility into the internal state of lithium-ion batteries during charge and discharge cycles. Instead of waiting days to identify defects, Entroview’s system can deliver results in as little as 10 hours, helping manufacturers extend battery life by up to 40%.

The technology, rooted in 40 years of academic research, monitors entropy variations – which are subtle temperature changes linked to lithium-ion movements – to predict battery degradation and performance. Traditionally a lab-only metric, entropy can now be tracked live thanks to Entroview’s proprietary algorithm, developed by co-founder and CTO Sohaib El Outmani during his PhD with three research directors, including a co-inventor of the lithium-ion battery.

WHY IT MATTERS

With 42 gigafactories under construction in Europe, and EV batteries making up 40% of a car’s cost, ensuring quality and longevity is mission critical. Yet most batteries are discarded prematurely due to uneven degradation, despite some cells remaining functional. Worse, battery failures can pose serious safety risks — particularly in electric vehicles. Entroview’s software helps:

In short: Entroview’s solution is not just about performance — it’s a step toward a safer, more sustainable battery ecosystem.

THE INVESTMENT

Entroview has closed a €1.5 million seed round, led by AFI Ventures and Rethink Ventures with participation from Wind, Exergon, Holnest, Kima, Linksium and existing business angels, to accelerate commercialisation and expand its testing footprint. The startup is already working with three gigafactories and two major European automakers, helping refine battery quality and reliability at scale.

NEXT STEPS

The funding will allow Entroview to:

Co-founders Gaetan Depaepe (CEO) and Sohaib El Outmani (CTO) are betting that real-time entropy analytics will become a standard in battery management — making EVs safer, manufacturing cleaner, and the energy transition smarter.
